In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it
Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users. And we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.
As a Wire Officer will be handling the processing and monitoring of wire transfers (both domestic and international). The main goal is to ensure that electronic funds transfers are executed accurately, securely, and in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you'll:
Wire Transfer Processing
- Receive and process outgoing wire transfer requests.
- Verify transaction details such as account numbers, amounts, and beneficiary information.
- Ensure timely execution of wire transfers within cutoff times.
- Develop operational synergies between Wave markets.
Reconciliation and Error Resolution
- Reconcile daily wire activity and resolve discrepancies.
- Investigate and respond to failed or returned wires.
- Coordinate with correspondent banks to trace or amend transactions when necessary.
- Respond to inquiries from internal teams regarding wire statuses, delays, or requirements.
Tasks include:
- Initiate wire transfers in operational countries that need assistance and new markets.
- Process outgoing and incoming domestic and international wire transfers.
- Verify transaction information for accuracy, including account numbers, amounts, and recipient details.
- Monitor daily wire activities and ensure adherence to compliance.
- Communicate with financial institutions and internal teams to resolve wire discrepancies or inquiries.
- Maintained daily records of wire transactions and prepared necessary documentation and reports.
- Support end-of-day balancing, reconciliation, and troubleshooting of wire transfer issues.
- Operate wire processing systems and banking software accurately and efficiently.

- Location: You'll work from our office in Côte d’Ivoire.
- This is a permanent position.

Requirements
- Fluent in English and French.
- 2+ years of experience in banking operations and treasury back-office.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or comparable field.
