In 2017, nearly 60% of adults in sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. In 2019, we expanded to Cote d'Ivoire. How you'll help us achieve it
We’re looking for resourceful and outgoing Territory Leads who are excited to help us launch and grow our agent network and sign up our first users.
In the earliest phases of the launch you will travel around the country as needed recruiting agents and signing up users. Later, you will be responsible for growing and managing either our agent network or user base in a specific part of the country.
- Agent Recruitment – In each target area, find the business owner who will make the best agent, convince them to join our network, and train them to use our tools.
- Customer Recruitment – In each target area, find the people who use mobile money the most, sign them up, and convince them to try our service. Listen to any feedback they have and pass it on to the rest of the team so that we can continue to improve our service.
During the expansion phase you will be responsible either for user growth or agent network management within your territory. This will involve the following tasks:
- Customer Recruitment – manage a team of distributors who will sign up users within your territory and convince them to try our service
- Agent Recruitment – manage a team of agent openers who will recruit and train agents within your territory
- Agent Quality – Ensure that agents in your territory
- are compliant with all legal and policy requirements
- have executed valid contracts
- are trained on the contents of the contract before signing the contract
- are well branded and have the necessary supplies
- Agent Liquidity Management – Coordinate the monitoring of cash / float availability at agent locations in cooperation with our liquidity team
- Risk Management and Routine Visitation – Report on emerging issues and assess the performance of agents in your territory
- Agent Churn – Identify underperforming agents, close them, recover Wave items and equipment, and ensure that branding material is removed
- Be the primary contact person for all agency network acquiring & Wave products in your territory
- Champion excellent customer service among distributors and agents within your territory
- In the launch phase, you be based wherever we find the greatest demand for our services and may end up traveling to several points around the country. Afterwards you will be based in the specific territory you are responsible for, with frequent travel within that territory and occasional travel beyond it.
- You will report to our Country Launcher.
- You will also receive a monthly allowance for lodging, food, airtime, and transportation.
- Fluent in French, Bambara, Foulani or Soninke
- Work authorization in Mali required
