In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In November 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. In 2019, we expanded to Cote d'Ivoire. Now, we have millions of users and are growing fast. Our goal is to make Africa the first cashless continent. And that's where you come in....
How you'll help us achieve it
To date, we have over 4 million active users across Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire and are rapidly scaling. We are looking for an energetic and creative Marketing Manager who can run our day to day marketing activities as we grow our user base and build our brand in Mali.
In this role, you'll:
- Coordinate day to day of ATL marketing activities in Mali
- Plan and implement relevant lead generation and awareness strategies through PR, mass media and digital channels
- Understand Wave’s product and values and translate them across all of our marketing channels from messaging to branding
- Support operational teams (sales, distribution network, business development...) and help them reach their business objectives by providing the marketing tools needed
- Report progress and effectiveness of actions planned
- Location: Bamako
- Travel: Frequent travel within the country required
- Work authorization in Mali required
- Language: Fluent in French and Bambara, excellent English
- Strong and written and verbal skills
- Previous Experience:
- Coordinating marketing activities at a rapidly scaling organization
- 5 years in managing marketing strategies at a multi-national or start-up company

- Are a strong communicator and are comfortable defaulting to overreaching when it comes to coordination
