6.3 Decrypting Files

It is common to think of decrypting files in two ways:

A user would open a secured (encrypted) file to edit, and then save the edited file back to the vault. Or course; while the file is open it must be decrypted. Document Manager allows this to be accomplished without any special actions from the user. Simply log into the Document Manager Vault using the Vault Interface or the Vault Mapped Drive, then double click (or right click and select open) on the necessary file to launch it.

Alternately, users may navigate to a Document Manager Mapped drive from within an application to open a secured file for editing. Users should login to the target Document Manager Vault before attempted to access files in this manner.

To remove a file or folder from a vault:
Typically users would remove a data from a Document Manager vault only to give it to a user that does not have access to a TPM enabled PC and Document Manager. Document Manager users can securely share access to protected data by using a Shared Vault.

  1. Start Document Manager or Windows Explorer
  2. Select the desired Vault and login.
  3. Drag-and-Drop the desired file(s) from the Vault to the target folder in Windows Explorer or the Desktop.
  4. The file is automatically decrypted by Document Manager.
