7.4.3 Steps for Recovering from a Hard Drive Failure
  1. Re-install the Key Transfer Manager software. This will also verify that the TPM is working. If the install fails, refer to the TPM-specific documentation that came with your system.
  2. From the Key Transfer Manager icon in the system tray, right-click to bring up the menu, then select Settings. From the Settings tab, select the archive from which you want to restore. Close the Settings screen.
  3. From the Key Transfer Manager icon in the system tray, right-click to bring up the menu, then select Restore TPM Keys. You will be prompted for the key archive password. Once you have successfully entered the password, the restoration process begins. Informational messages appear above the Key Transfer Manager icon in the system tray as each key is processed. A final message about the total number of keys restored is displayed upon completion of the overall restoration process. The keys have now been restored for use by the TPM.
