Error enrolling fingerprintS

When encountering "Error writing to database: Fingerprint already enrolled" and cannot view the fingerprint in EMBASSY to remove it (click here for instructions to remove biometrics in EMBASSY Security Center) , please click here for instructions to Remove all fingerprints on the Harddrive and Upek reader . Then re-enroll and enable the secure windows logon.

Most other issues with fingerprint enrollment can be quickly resolved by information in extended logging files. Extended logging is a diagnostic tool which collects basic information about your computer setup and notes what happens to the Wave software during use. All of this data is kept confidential.

  • Click here to download wtest.zip and unzip it.
  • Go to Start - Run and type cmd
  • cd (change directories) to the directory where you unzipped wtest.
  • At the command prompt, run (Vista users must right click to run the command as an administrator or it will fail with an open policy error):
    • wtest list4 -e > wtest.txt
    • wtest2 > wtest2.txt
  • Click here to download AuthMgrErrLog.zip and unzip it.
  • Follow instructions provided in the Readme.txt file for file placement.
  • Double-click cleanlogs.bat to run it. This will clear any existing logfiles.
  • Double-click AuthMgrErrLog.reg to apply changes to the registry. This will enable extended logging.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Try to enroll a fingerprint. When you encounter an error, please:
    • Take a screenshot of the error message
    • Zip all files in the Wave Systems Corp. folder.
      • For XP systems, this folder is located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Wave Systems Corp
      • For Vista systems, this folder is located at C:\ProgramData\Wave Systems Corp

Please send all four files (wtest.txt, wtest2.txt, the screenshot of your error and the zipped Wave Systems Corp. folder) and your computer model, operating system, and version of EMBASSY Trust Suite to support@wavesys.com with the information you collected above review by the Technical Analyst Team
