Changing location of the Document Manager (DM) LITE vault

Follow these steps:

  1. Reboot the machine and login so that you do not have a drive conflict (e.g., do not login to the domain that maps to Drive Z).
  2. Start Document Manager from Start > All Programs > Wave Systems Corp > Document Manager.
  3. Copy all data from the DM Vault to another location (e.g., the desktop or a new folder). You may select all files by selecting the first file with your mouse and then holding down the SHIFT key and selecting the last file. Then you can drag and drop all files at once to the new location. If you do not have any data in the Vault, then this step can be skipped.
  4. Exit Document Manager and select "Yes" to log out of the Vault.
  5. Modify the DM registry settings that define the Secure Drive.
    1. Start > Run.
    2. In the command window type “regedit”.
    3. Navigate to the following registry key "HKEY_CURENT_USER\Software\Wave Systems Corp.\Document Manager".
    4. Delete this key and all of its subkeys by pressing the DELETE key on your keyboard.

  6. Unmap the Secure Drive
    1. Open “My Computer”.
    2. From the menu select “Tools>Disconnect Network Drive…”
    3. Select the Secure Drive “My Vault (Z:)”.
    4. Click ‘OK’.
  7. Delete the Vault data from the hard drive.
    1. Open Windows Explorer or My Computer.  Start>All Programs->Accessories->Windows Explorer.
    2. Navigate to the system drive of the My Computer folder (e.g., c:\).
    3. Navigate to “Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Wave Systems Corp”. This is a hidden directory so you may need to type this into the address bar of Windows Explorer or make sure that under Tools > Folder Options you have the setting of "View Hidden Files and Folders".
    4. Delete the sub-directory named “DocMgr”.

  8. Reboot the machine.
  9. Log in so that all drives that need to be mapped are shown.  Alternately you can manually map all drives that you do not want DM to use and then unmap them after DM is configured. Keep in mind that DM will use the lowest drive letter available at the time of first run so if you want DM to use ‘X’ as the default drive letter you will need to make sure that ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ are mapped before running DM.
  10. Run DM and create a password for the default vault.
  11. Move any files that were saved in Step 3 above into the vault that was just created. You can select all files and  drag and drop them into the vault.  Remember to delete them from their  original location.
  12. Unmap any drives that were temporarily mapped in step 9 above.
  13. Reboot and log in normally so that all desired mapped drives are available (e.g., login to the domain that maps to Drive Z).
